I'm away for a few days, hopefully seeing some bloggers during that time - will report back, of course. And will write a recap of the Great British Bake Off final at some point, goodness knows when! Probably Monday... until then, adieu.
I am currently undergoing gruelling chemo treatments for colon cancer here at home in Cape Town, South Africa. I have always been an avid reader but books have become so much more to me now. Brand new fresh smelling, well-thumbed library editions, or light-to-handle-when-in-bed ebooks. On the worst days, I take comfort from old classics and stories of other people's survival eg. Henrietta's War - Joyce Dennys. On days when I have more physical and psychological energy, I find non-fiction stimulating (especially history) and armchair travel inspiring and amusing eg. Its all Greek to Me - John Mole. Thank you for a delightful, interesting blog. To anyone attempting to survive the dark, physically depleting effects of chemo, books can be your salvation. Do not give up! Valerie
