Can't blog, too busy having a street party!

At least that's the plan, so long as it doesn't rain too much...

Here's the beautiful Queen during the Jubilee Flotilla.

I'm so delighted that the nation has got on board with celebrating the jubilee. I can't imagine there is anyone else in the country who has been so dedicated, loyal, hard-working and wise - nor inspired such love and devotion - over such a long period of time.  I have nothing but respect for Queen Elizabeth II.  (Remember, you republicans are welcome back on Wednesday!)

  1. As an American, I am still a bit excited about the whole jubilee and I think you hit on the reason right here. For one person to have dedicated an entire life to her nation--and such a long and fruitful life at that--well, who could help but be impressed and a bit enchanted! God bless the Queen and all of that. :)

  2. I am also delighted that the British can celebrate the Queen's diamond jubilee. I also note her dedication to duty and hard work. I just wish that, as a republican Australian, she wasn't still my Queen as well.

  3. I do hope the weather complies, Simon! I wish there were more jubilee celebrations in my neck of the woods but it has been pretty quiet here; there are quite a few shop displays (my favourite bookstore had the whole front window devoted to books about the Queen and the last 60 years), I've seen jubilee tea towels and mugs (the Emma Bridgewater ones) everywhere, and my grocery store has lots of commemorative biscuit and chocolate tins but that's about it. I know friends here who have had private parties and picnics but none of the lovely communal gatherings my friends all across Britain seem to be enjoying!

    1. Our local bookshop (new and second hand) also has a wonderful Royal themed window display. I chuckled when I noted a book entitled 'Heroes and Villains' tucked away in a corner!

    2. The weather was pretty dire... but, for half our street party, it was sunny!

  5. Enjoy your celebrations Simon. I am in the Hobart airport waiting for my delayed flight to Sydney. Decided to bring the netbook along as cannot bear being away from all my favourite blogs for 5 days. It is always fun to have celebrations for something you care about. Cheers, Pam

    Also agree with Lyn above.

  6. And the celebrations continue! Hope you are having a wonderful holiday and enjoying all the festivities, Simon. All we can do here is wish we were there! My daughter has been given strict instructions to take loads of photos of Jubilee celebrations and we will just have to live vicariously through her.

The Queen is a most impressive woman indeed.

  7. haha we actually had the queen turn up to officially open our street party.

Ok so it was one of the neighbours dressed up as the queen, but she did a good impression!
