My friend Andrea and I have a two-person film club. Once a fortnight we hold it at either of our houses; the host surprises the guest with the choice of film. We then put our mini-reviews and marks out of ten in a book.
Now that we've finished our first notebook, I thought I'd share the films we've seen - along with our marks out of twenty.

That's such a great idea. And there are some really interesting titles on that list! You've just piqued my curiosity about Life in a Day.
ReplyDeleteYou're in luck! The makers put the whole thing online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaFVr_cJJIY
DeleteI love this idea! Now to think of a friend to start my own club with...
ReplyDeleteI was lucky to find Andrea!! Actually, we found each other on the first day of uni, nearly ten years ago.
DeleteMy husband and I have 'movie date night' every Friday, so similar to your thing. However, although we started with taking turns choosing films, we quickly found that didn't work. Our tastes are far too different. While I would love to watch most of the films on your list, I don't think he'd like them. :( So now we just sort of agree during the week and generally wind up choosing some awful rom-com.
ReplyDeleteThere are definitely very few people I'd be able to do this with - or with these films, at least. Groups of friends certainly end up with awful rom coms most of the time!
DeleteWhat fun! And isn't Mr. Skeffington great? Bette Davis is just amazing in it!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was great! The book is my least favourite E von A so far (mostly because I missed her humour) but the film was good. A bit long, but Bette D was wonderful.
DeleteMarks out of 10? Seems more like marks out of 20...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to do something similar with friends, at least once a month. A film club instead of a book club. Mind you, like Helen above, my husband and I have such different tastes in films it would be a struggle to find common ground...
Marks out of ten each! I added them together for this :)
DeleteHope you find a willing friend or two for a film club!
