Spotted or Herbaceous?!
I was spotted, I think...
I am currently undergoing gruelling chemo treatments for colon cancer here at home in Cape Town, South Africa. I have always been an avid reader but books have become so much more to me now. Brand new fresh smelling, well-thumbed library editions, or light-to-handle-when-in-bed ebooks. On the worst days, I take comfort from old classics and stories of other people's survival eg. Henrietta's War - Joyce Dennys. On days when I have more physical and psychological energy, I find non-fiction stimulating (especially history) and armchair travel inspiring and amusing eg. Its all Greek to Me - John Mole. Thank you for a delightful, interesting blog. To anyone attempting to survive the dark, physically depleting effects of chemo, books can be your salvation. Do not give up!Valerie
Valerie, your comment really touched me and I'm so happy that my blog is any small help at the moment - and, of course, that books are an encouragement. They really are a wonder - where would we be without them?
I've now moved to www.stuckinabook.com, and all my old posts are over there too - do come and say hello :)I probably won't see your comment here, I'm afraid, but all my archive posts can also be found at www.stuckinabook.com.
