You will get there (eventually). Be brave!
I noticed the Persephones before I scrolled down to the text below them. :) It's going to be such a warm and friendly place when you finish -- "books do make a room," and the also "make a house a home." Goodness, now that I'm trying to bombard you with all those wonderful book quotes, my old brain just went blank. Hang in there!
Nice Persephones! You'll get there Simon - take your time - enjoy putting your books back.
Glad it all went well. Plenty of books there then!
Maybe now is not the time to return the box of books you lent me...I LOVE arranging books - do you want me to come round and offer my professional services?!
You have a good name, and you seem to read good books. Dont worry tidiness is not everything.
Hahaha brilliant photo's Simon, I really enjoyed this little tour of mayhem. We have all been there so we all empathise.
Just about to start putting stuff in boxes, myself - vacating my office for a day while the window is replaced. So on Friday, all being well, I have to unpack it all again! But new bookshelves are always a lovely challenge!
Don't worry about it - I;m still sorting after almost 6 years, it doesn't do to rush these things!
We moved in December and I still have several boxes of books waiting to be sorted. It's fun to organize books though isn't it? Good way to find books you had forgotten you had :)
Deciding how to organize your books is such a job, sometimes, when you have the time and the energy... Otherwise, it might be best to just chuck them up there, and then organize. But for some reason, I think that goes against the very core of your being (seeing as you are a librarian and all)....Love the Persephone shelves...
Your earlier photographs look like my bookshelves do--and I moved 4 years ago!anitawanderingbetweentwoworlds.blogspot.com
love the bears in the corner :)Organising books is one of those things that feels like a cross between a chore and a pleasure. The end result is oh-so-gratifying, but at least for me, trying to figure out the best way to arrange books is a nightmare and a half. At the moment, I have my books sorted alphabetically by publisher and author - but I really don't know how practical that is. And then one sees all those lovely posts in the blogging world which arranges books by colour.... Love the Persephone collection by the way!
Mystica - and I did, eventually!Susan - I can't imagine a bedroom without books, how cold and empty it would feel!Annabel - aren't they lovely together? They always get comments and compliments.Tom - enough to keep me going for a while!Verity - haha, although I sort of found it a chore, I also enjoyed it, and wouldn't be able to let anyone else do the task...Simon Thomas - gosh, what a coincidence! I was confused when I saw your comment come in. I do like your blog too.Simon S - mayhem it definitely was - I always forget how much mayhem moving causes...Jodie - that sounds less fun... but I suppose it's all over now :)Hayley - gosh! I am worried about when all my books are reunited... that will take years to organise.Iliana - when I have all my books (soooo many still at home with my parents) it'll be great fun, but huge work, to organise them all and discover lost gems.Liz - I've gone for a compromise of organisation and disorganisation - I think it would horrify most librarians(!)Anita - haha, oh dear!acc - the colour arrangements are lovely, aren't they? I'm sure I'll reorganise mine before too long...
I've now moved to www.stuckinabook.com, and all my old posts are over there too - do come and say hello :)I probably won't see your comment here, I'm afraid, but all my archive posts can also be found at www.stuckinabook.com.
