Forever England - the cover

Jennifer Dee asks where the cover depicts - it's actually a painting by Dame Laura Knight called 'Two Girls on a Cliff'... not an especially enlightening title. Dovegreyreader blogged about Forever England here and described Dame Laura Knight as a Newlyn artist, so I would assume the painting is of that part of Cornwall?

  1. I'm not a 100% sure, but I am pretty certain that, yes, the painting does date from Laura Knight's time in Cornwall.I believe that is of the cliffs at Lamorna - just around the coast from her home in Newlyn. I live in the area and so the work of the Newlyn school of artists is quite familiar to me!

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment - my favourite part of blogging is reading your comments!

Annoyingly, Blogger often messes up with comments... try refreshing, or commenting Anonymously (add your name in, though!) or using Firefox/Chrome instead of Internet Explorer. (Ctrl+c your comment first!)

Failing everything, email me: simondavidthomas[at]yahoo.co.uk - or just email me anyway :)

Thanks!
