There were so many authors whom I've read, but not the book chosen for the list...and so many I've meant to read...and so many I didn't read because I knew I wouldn't like them...and there were probably at least another 50 I started but didn't finish! The list missed out some wonderful books, and included some that I would have said were utter tripe. The list was also a compendium of best sellers you'd have automatically read if you were around in the 1960s and 1970s, but would be pretty forgettable today. A very subjective list, certainly, but not an uninteresting exercise. OK, that was a good break - now back to work. What work? Reading a manuscript. A lifetime of reading manuscripts is why my "score" was 240 instead of 500!

Diana BirchallAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-446727280609751914.post-16246515017806874582009-02-03T12:14:00.000+00:002009-02-03T12:14:00.000+00:00StuckInABook said... It's missing some books and authors I would hope to see included. For one instance, right off the top of my head - in the "War" category, I see that _All's Quiet on the Western Front_ is there, but not _Johnny Got His Gun_ by Dalton Trumbo - one of the best anti-war books going.
